Gries Deco Company, headquartered in Niedernberg am Main, is a steadily growing company in the retail sector. With approximately 7,700 employees (as of 2019) and over 400 stores in the D-A-CH region, Gries Deco Company generates annual sales of around 408 million euros. The product range includes home accessories, furniture, gift and decorative items and room fragrances.
Initial situation:
In recent years, the Gries Deco Company has decided to create a digital supply chain solution that consolidates goods movements across free trade borders and thus ensures full control over the relevant value creation steps. The distribution center for Germany, Austria and Switzerland, which has been digitized on a large scale, represents an elementary pivotal point in this process. A cross-border cloud solution is to be used to reduce both inventories and operating costs and to make the flow of materials transparent. In this context, the existing warehouse management system SAP® WM is to be replaced by SAP® EWM. In the future, the supply of the stores in Switzerland will be handled by an EWM-managed warehouse in Germany (insourcing).
